The Hot Dog Water Challenge

Patrick Maher

On February 5th, 2017 our brother, Joe Maher, was the victim of a fatal overdose of fentanyl after a long battle with opioid addiction. We're crushed and grieving but highly motivated to have his death not be in vain and want to contribute to solving the problem. Joe was a presence and always the life and light in the room, a man with no filter between brain, mouth, and actions. This was exemplified and immortalized on YouTube when he took a bet to drink hot dog water (the video can be viewed here: youtu.be/xY-lvhA_LsQ). Thus we were inspired to issue the Hot Dog Water challenge. Make a donation to Shatterproof or make a video attempting to drink the hot dog water and challenge people to do the same on social media with #HotDogWater. We don't want our brother's death to be in vain, we miss him terribly, and we want to become part of the solution. Let's make this happen and make a difference.

Shatterproof is changing the conversation about addiction. They are saving lives by helping pass laws that prevent more of our loved ones from becoming addicted to prescription opioids and supporting first responders who can rescue those who overdose. Your support helps expand their efforts to support prevention, treatment, rescue and recovery of addiction.

Please support our fundraiser by making a donation to Shatterproof today. Together, we are stronger than addiction. We Are Shatterproof!
