Where does the money go? 
The funds you raise support advocacy efforts, provide trusted, evidence-based resources for families, and helps to end the stigma of addiction. See how your support helps.  
 
What is Shatterproof's Tax ID number? 
A Tax ID number identifies Shatterproof as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Organization. The Shatterproof Tax ID number is #45-4619712. 
 
Where should I mail donation checks and whom should I make them out to? 
101 Merritt 7 Corporate Park, 1st Floor 
Norwalk, CT 06851 
Make all checks payable to: Shatterproof. In the memo area, write “Shatterproof” and include the name of the person or the team name the donation should be credited to (ex: Shatterproof – Dale Smith). 
 
Are donations tax-deductible? 
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. 
 
How do I find a participant's personal fundraising donation form? 

Visit shatterproofchallenge.org and click on “Donate”.  You will then be able to search for a participant.
 
How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant's fundraising account? 
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation doesn't post within 5 minutes, contact us. 
 
Can I make a donation to a team? 
Yes. You can make a donation to a fundraiser on a team or you can make a general team donation. 
 
For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars? 

Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars. 
 
Do all donors who mail their donations or contribute online receive a receipt? 
Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed. If you made your donation in installments, you'll receive a receipt each time a monthly payment is processed. Anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email. 
 
How do I add a dedication when I make a donation? 
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's page. This may be your name, or something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy." 

FUNDRAISING FAQ 

I’m new to fundraising and not sure where to start. What should I do? 
Fundraising is easier than you think. Check out these tips. 
 
Do I have to fundraise to be able to participate? 
No, you are not required to fundraise to participate in the event. But, you’ll only be eligible to receive a long-sleeve, dri-fit event shirt and other fundraising incentives when you raise $100 or more.
 
What can I say to promote my Stronger Than Addiction campaign?  

A good place to start is: “I’m raising funds for Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reversing the addiction crisis in the U.S. Every dollar I raise supports advocacy efforts, provides trusted, evidence-based resources for families, and ends the stigma of addiction. May I count on your support?” 
 
Are there any fundraising minimums? 
No, there is no fundraising minimum to participate. However in order to earn incentives, including a Shatterproof long-sleeve dri-fit event shirt, you'll need to raise a minimum of $100.  
 
How much should my fundraising goal be? 

We recommend starting with $250 and increasing your goal as you make progress. 
 
I am hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the Stronger Than Addiction Challenge. Will Shatterproof pay for my fundraising expenses? 
Shatterproof is not responsible for any expenses you incur. We recommend you reach out to local businesses to see if they'll donate goods, products, or services to help keep your costs to a minimum. 
 
 What can I do if a check is written out to me personally? 
Endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to: Shatterproof, 101 Merritt 7 Corporate Park, 1st Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 
Note: If you anticipate receiving multiple checks, wait and bundle them together in a single envelope before sending to Shatterproof. 
  
 My company will match my donation, what do I do? 
Most companies have a process for employees to follow so they can get their donation matched. Your company will confirm your donation was received by contacting us. Talk to your HR department to identify your company’s requirements. We will verify all donations and credit them to your fundraiser when they’re received. Click here for more information on matching gifts and to see if your company offers the program. Then contact your company’s Matching Gift program coordinator about getting your gift matched today.  

Can I transfer a donation that I received to another participant or team?
Yes, contact us at thechallenge@shatterproof.org to request the donation be credited to another fundraiser or team. 

Can I mail in a cash donation? 
Don't send cash in the mail. We recommend you deposit the cash into your checking account and make an online donation on behalf of the donor, or mail a personal check. 

 Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me? 
Login to your dashboard and click on “Donations”.  
 
Can I send a thank you email to donors from My Dashboard? 
Yes. Once you are logged on to your dashboard click on “Messages” in the upper left-hand corner. 
 
Is there a registration fee? 
That’s up to you.  We do offer free registration or the option to pay the $30 registration fee and receive a branded t-shirt and face mask.  

How much time should I expect to commit to this? 
The good news is it’s up to you and the activity you choose. It can be something simple or more complex.  
  
Can I start a team? 
Of course! Starting a team is a great way to unite co-workers, friends and/or family members around a great cause and you’ll raise more mission-critical funds for Shatterproof. 
 
What is my dashboard?
Your dashboard is your fundraising page, offering tools to recruit teammates, connect with potential donors, share your story, view your progress, and much more. Login to your dashboard through your event’s home page. 
 
How will my personal information or the personal information of those I contact through My HQ (your fundraising dashboard) be used? 

Please refer to our Privacy Policy.  
  
What is “My Page” link? 
The link to your personal web page, which might look like this: https://fundraise.shatterproof.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.participant&participantID=1262. To personalize your URL, login to your dashboard, click on “Settings,” then select the URL link icon, and type in the name. 
 
Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising honor roll? 
When a donor makes a donation online, they can enter text to appear on the fundraising honor roll. This may be the donor's name, or something like "From the whole Wolf family" or "In Memory of Aunt Cathy." 

TEAM FAQs 

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants on a team? 
There is no minimum or maximum to the number of people you can recruit to join your team! 

Does every team member have to register? 
Yes, every team member who is planning on participating needs to register for the event to be recognized as a member of your team and be eligible for individual fundraising incentives

What are the benefits of being on a team? 
In addition to the fun that comes with participating together, you can build excitement around the event together, raise more money for the cause, and increase awareness in communities around the country.

How do we fundraise as a team?  
Every team member’s individual fundraising contributes to the team total. 

Can we earn fundraising incentives as a team?
No, individuals qualify for fundraising prizes by raising the relevant funds on their individual fundraising page. Donations made to a team page, or to other team members fundraising pages do not count toward earning fundraising incentives.  Teams cannot collectively earn prizes. They can only be earned by one individual.

It’s virtual! You can join from anywhere!

What is the age requirement? 
There is no age requirement to participate.  
 
Will I receive a T-shirt?  
There are two different event shirts.  The first is for those who pay the registration fee. All individual participants who raise $100 or more will earn a long-sleeve, dri-fit event shirt. 
 
Is my registration fee refundable if I am unable to complete the Challenge?  
All registration fees and donations are non-refundable, but are tax-deductible.
