Hi there! We’re the Tarica brothers, Jeremy and Zachary. We are honored to be running on November 7th on behalf of Shatterproof for both the NYC and LA marathons. Yes, you read that right. The NYC and LA marathons just so happen to be on the same day this year and we’ll each be taking on a coast; Jeremy in NYC and Zach in LA.
Shatterproof is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts, and we are so honored to be representing their mission of fighting addiction. With more than 93,000 fatal overdoses in the United States in 2020 alone, sadly so many of us have been impacted by this unforgiving disease. If you or a loved one have suffered from the wrath of addiction, know that you are not alone.
Almost five years ago, I (Jeremy) tragically lost a close friend and remarkable person, Elliot Meister, to this disease. Elliot, I think about you every day and I run this marathon for you. And just this past year, a family that I (Zach) am close to personally and professionally lost a piece of their puzzle to addiction at a very young age. Mikey Wofford was a nephew to Jeff Assaf, the Chairman of our Board at Forest Road, a cousin to one of our first employees, and a beloved son, brother, and friend. We are forever grateful to Jeff for connecting us with this incredible Shatterproof organization.
In November, we'll be running for Elliot, Mikey, all others who were taken too soon, who have lost loved ones, who are fighting to see a better tomorrow, and everyone in between. We run for those in need of help and are on their road to recovery. And we run to continue the strides being made to combat addiction and the stigma that surrounds it.
We are running in solidarity on each coast, on the same day, to signify that this is something that impacts those near and far, across the country, and around the globe… but together we can help end this crisis. Please join us on our bicoastal marathon journey! We appreciate any & all donations no matter how big or small.
All our love,
Jeremy & Zach
