In Loving Memory of Marc Kane

Jaclyn Brown

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page! I am raising funds and awareness for Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the devastation the disease of addiction causes families.

My brother, Marc, passed away on November 16, 2018, due to a heroin overdose. Marc battled with addiction and depression for many years after a car accident in November 2010. He was always optimistic that he could win his battle on his own, but the hold that addiction had was much stronger than any of us could have ever imagined. My mission now is to be an advocate for people and their families who need help in dealing with this terrible disease and help end the stigma of addiction.

Since creating this fundraising page in March 2019, I have held two events in Marc's honor: Marc's Mile on 5/5/19 and the Marc Kane Mortal Kombat Tournament on 8/18/19. The amount of support, generosity, and love for my fundraising and advocacy has been overwhelming.

My husband, Jordan, will be running in the Shatterproof 5k in LA on 11/9/19, in honor of Marc, while I will be volunteering at the event. This event means a lot to me, as LA is our hometown and this event is a week before the one year anniversary of his passing. My goal is to reach $10,000 before the 5k in LA.

Shatterproof is changing the conversation about addiction. They are saving lives by helping pass laws that prevent more of our loved ones from becoming addicted to prescription opioids and supporting first responders who can rescue those who overdose. Your support helps expand their efforts to support prevention, treatment, rescue and recovery of addiction.

Thank you for taking the time out to visit the page!

Miss him and his warm spirit! I remember he was so thoughtful when we were kids playing. The sweetest little man ever. I'm so heartbroken this disease stole him from us. Thank you for keeping his memory alive. He would have been so proud of all u r doing to shine light on how tough this disease is to overcome. Addiction is a broad term more people need to know how it can easily overtake a person whole being and meaning. Thank for fighting to change the stigmatism and find real solutions. Marc even after going to meet our God, is still doing so much good here while we are still alive. The true Marc I knew when we were kids always was true and always meant good in all he did. Just as he always was. I will always love my dear cousin. 💙💙💙
